The Builder August 6, 2009 David E. Story, Pastor STORYLINE...Once a Month!
Item #1 - Beginning in September we are going to go to a monthly newsletter instead of bi-monthly. Obviously, with postal costs constantly going up it will be a way to save money and also a way to save some time. That is the up-side. The down-side is that it will take more planning both in the office and also with all the committees and organizations of the church to make sure that we have all the news that needs to be included in the monthly edition. It also means that we all will have to pay closer attention to the announcements posted in the bulletin each Sunday morning, and for those who check the website via computer, Paula continues to regularly update the activities. The articles are posted under the Builder heading on our web page. If we see that this approach isn’t working satisfactorily, we can always go back to the bi-monthly newsletter. Item #2 - On a separate page in this newsletter you will find a proposed amendment to the church constitution and by-laws. For all practical purposes it is changing the terminology of the Permanent Investment Fund Trustees to that of the Investment Committee. It is what you might call “a cosmetic change” but is necessary because of the way the constitution and by-laws are worded. Read the rationale for the change and also the change itself. It has already been approved by the General Board. We will vote on it on AUGUST 16. As Ever,

“A VIEW FROM THE CHAIR” - Sandra Westmoreland STEWARDSHIP - Connie sent me an email today which contained the following statement: “The love of God is an ocean, you can see from where it comes but you can never see where it ends.” How blessed we are here at Richfield, but the summer months have taken a toll on our finances, as I am sure it has yours. Giving was down significantly in July as people were on vacations, etc, so the Stewardship Committee and I, as your Board Chair, are asking for your help to catch up and even give a little extra if you can. The programs and expenses of the church continue even when you are away. The love of God is with us every day giving us abundant blessings both seen and unseen -- how can we do less than to share those blessings. See you on Sunday!
OOPS!
